The new study led by Mark A. Smith neuroscientist and Associate Professor from Davidson College has suggested that regular exercise can lower the tendency to become addicted to illegal drugs.
"We've known that individuals who engage in exercise have lower rates of substance abuse. But there were previously no data that showed a cause and effect relationship," said Smith.

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."
-- Washington Irving (1783-1859)

Authorities say nearly 100 students have been arrested at San Diego State University on drug-related charges.
Drugs, cash and guns were seized from sellers and buyers in the bust that followed a five-month undercover operation.
The San Diego County district attorney’s office says the 96 arrests include fraternity members. Defendants are scheduled to appear in state court to face charges Tuesday afternoon.
Early reports have indicated that many of those arrested belonged to the Theta Chi fraternity. It is believed they were heavily involved in possessing and distributing cocaine, ecstasy and other drugs.
